Administration

Superintendent

Erik Wilkerson

I am the new Superintendent for Shields Valley Schools.  I received my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Western Montana College in 1989.  I have a Master's Degree in Educational Administration from the University of Montana and am both K-12 principal and superintendent certified.  I am currently in my 21th year in education, and 16th year as an administrator either half or full time.

I have been married to my wonderful wife, Tanya, for the past 21 years.  We have three children:  Dustin age 29, AshLee age 27, and Abigail age 16.  Dustin recently graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND.  AshLee currently goes to school at the University of Montana, and Abigail is a 9th grade Rebel at Shields Valley Schools.

My family and I enjoy rafting, fly fishing,  hunting, school activities, 4H, and rodeo.

Junior High/High School Principal

Alex Ator

I am very exited to be the HS/JH principal and advanced math teacher at Shields Valley.  I graduated from Plentywood High School, in Plentywood, MT.  I will always be a Wildcat because of the education and the opportunities that a small gave me. Upon graduation, I attended Montana State University.  It was an easy transition since I already was a Cat at heart.  I went to engineering school for three years and one day woke up and realized that it was not for me.  That summer I switched to math education, and received my B.S. in mathematics two years later.  I moved home and student taught in Medicine Lake, MT and began to coach basketball and tract.  It was that spring that I knew I had made the right decision.  Upon completion of student teaching, I was hired in Froid, MT.  Froid and Medicine Lake have a very similar dynamic to Shields Valley, as it is two rivals who now combine for sports and academic activities.

I am very 3xcited for the opportunity to work with the children of your community.  As a ne administrator there will be bumps along the road.  But, much like the general population of this area, I am a blue collar kid at heart.  And, if I do get bucked off the horse, I will work my tail off to get back on the horse and do what is best for the children of the Shields Valley.

Elementary Principal

Alan Peterson

I grew up in Gardiner and graduated from Gardiner High School.  I spent the next year going to the May School of Broadcasting where I received my radio broadcasting license.  From there, I went to Montana State University and graduated with an elementary education degree and a math option.  My first teaching job was right here in the Shields Valley where I taught 5th and 6th grades from 1991-1996.  In July of 1996, I was hired as elementary principal.  I went on to get my master's degree in schools administration from Montana State.  I have been the elementary principal for the past fifteen years and have had many coaching positions during my twenty-year tenure.

I am married to Leslie, my wife of twenty years, and we have two children:  Brianne (9th grade) and Brock (7th grade).  As a family was have many interests, but our passion is traveling and seeing different places.  We attend as many Bobcat, Seahawk and mariner games as possible, but still make sure we support the REBELS and all of their activities.
