Red Ribbon Week

BPA was asked to organized and handle Red Ribbon Week for October of 2009.  We were thrilled to be a part of something so important.

Members got together and worked hard to plan activities that would appeal to the Junior High and High School students.  The theme "I Have Better Things to Do than Drugs" was chosen.  Each day of the week had a "dress up" theme--everything from "Slippers Day--Give Drugs the Slip" to "Shades Day--Shade out Drugs".  BPA sponsored a bulletin board contest and then set in motion the big finale--a Ghost Out.  A member of each class was selected to be a Ghost Out participant and were asked to write their own obituary with their parents.  The final hour-long assembly was put together by the committee members and featured audio and video presentations by Danny Laubach and Sky Hager, assisted by Steel Anderson.  It was a powerful, powerful presentation and brought the message home loud and clear about the disadvantages, some life-threatening, of using alcohol or drugs.

What a way to start a day!
